A few months ago we got the pleasure of traveling to Uluru, the Aboriginals most sacred land in Australia. On our travels we got the opportunity of finding beautiful artwork to feature in our showroom. “Bush Onion Dreaming” (Janmarra Jukrrpa) by Glorine Nungarryi Martin is one of the pieces that we have on display. The piece is a simple and beautiful. Black, white and burgundy colours repetitively dance across the canvas to create the masterpiece. “Ladies are going hunting for bush onions, with sticks and coolimons” is written on the back of the canvas, giving you a story to the painting.
The beautiful home of Pamela Makin, owner and founder of Les Interieurs, was recently featured in Belle Magazine. With the same ethos as Frey, sourcing one-off global treasures is part of what defines her style. Here we take a peak inside her fabulous home.
We here at Frey are very excited to welcome our newest artist, Giovanna Aryafara. Giovanna is a New Zealand born artist whose work studies a small number or African tribes located in the southern most part of Ethiopia. Her images grab ones attention from the beautiful expressiveness in her subjects faces. Brothers, sisters, mothers and children, her work truly showcases the beauty and heritage of the traditional African tribal culture.
As many of you know, we recently changed our famous street art by Danny Awes (90 degrees art) from "Gani" to "Buni", the boy from the well. This striking image originated from Mario Gerth, a world renowned artist who's work we stock in our store. We love people's reactions to the piece and how the community has embraced it.
Fathers day is just around the corner! What does that mean? Well, for a lot of you, it means that you have no idea what gift to give for Father’s Day. To help you out, below we have made a little collection of our Top Picks for Father’s Day. These items are sure to make any Dad happy!
Melbourne based artist, Kate Collingwood, has been photographing people and places for more than 20 years. She has travelled to incredibly remote places, and around familiar neighbourhoods forever seeking out the unusual and interesting. Her work spans a diverse range of subjects, yet her candid style remains consistent and recognisable. We are incredibly excited to welcome Kate Collingwood as our next featured artist at FREY.
Most of you by now will have seen the beautiful Mario Gerth artwork we proudly stock here in store, and the wall mural we had done of one of our long time favourite pieces, Gani, from the Karo tribe of Ethiopia.
